About me

Background, education, interests, and recognition—aligned with my CV.

I'm Christian Classen, a Master of Science in Computer Science student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (August 2024 – May 2026). Before that I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (August 2020 – May 2024).

I care about whether we can trust the AI systems we deploy: rigorous safety evaluations, monitoring, and the security and robustness of AI agents. That thread runs through my coursework choices, research, and extracurricular involvement in AI safety.

I like clear problem statements, iterative progress, and documentation that helps the next person (including future me). In research I’m drawn to empirical questions with measurable outcomes—whether that’s model behavior, evaluation design, or collaborative tooling for students and instructors.

Outside the lab

I've invested time in student organizations and mentorship—especially through Project Code and WAISI—because I learn as much from organizing and teaching as from solo projects.
