Overview

This is my group's final project for CS 579: Virtual Reality taken at UW-Madison during Spring 2026. I worked with Neil D'Souza and Tom Zastrow to make a small puzzle game in Unity. Though simple, developing this game was a good chance to dip my toes into both the development of VR experiences and the development of 3D experiences in Unity.

Project Summary

Lumen is an escape room style puzzle box set in a lighthouse. The unifying theme between the puzzles will be taking an initially dark room and lighting it up to reveal more puzzles, as well as playing with colored lights and blacklights that reveal hidden information. The eventual goal is to repair the lighthouse so it provides proper light to the ocean and sailors. We want to have a horror slant/play with surreal elements in order to create a horror-lite atmosphere. This will involve a physical space that doesn’t necessarily make full logical sense. The ideal user experience would be scary but also have interesting and satisfying puzzles to solve that play with light. There will be an element of immense scale looking out over the ocean from the top room of the lighthouse.

Project Status

This project is currently incomplete, but I will share the GitHub for the game once it is finished. I've linked a video demoing a very early implementation of a puzzle.
